Make Sure You Hire a CPS Defense Attorney With Qualified Experience
Video Transcribed: You’ve just had your ISP court ordered your individualized service planning, a deprived case for DHS took your kids. And as you’re going through it, you realize there are certain things on there that don’t really make sense. Perhaps they’re asking you to get a mental health evaluation, but that was never alleged that you had mental health problems. They’re making you do drug rehab, even though you’ve never taken drugs. What do you do?
Hello, my name is Ryan Cannonie, I’m an CPS Defense Lawyer with the CPS Investigation Defense Law office and I’ve handled deprive cases for over seven years. And one thing that I’ve noticed is there’s kind of a disconnect a lot of times between what DHS wants, what the court wants and what the state prosecution wants to see out of a case.
And so when these individualized service plans are made, they’re made by DHS. And a lot of times DHS will put things in there that the court, if you object to it, the court won’t order, or if the court does order, it can’t be used to terminate your parental rights.
Now, does that mean that if you can abuse, terminate your parental rights, you can ignore it. No, because there are some issues that will arise later down the road that your attorney will have to advise you about.
If you find yourself in a situation where you’re in a deprived case, and you feel that you need someone there to help guide you, some representation, give us a call. It’s something we’re very familiar with.
ISP’s are tricky. There’s a whole bunch of language in there that does and doesn’t make sense. They’re designed by policy people and DHS legal, who most of the time are never in the courtroom dealing with these ISP’s being ordered.
And I can almost guarantee you have never had to actually work one. And so they put the language in there, but they don’t really know how it works in practical application. So, your day to day is a lot different than what they assume it’s going to be.
If you have questions, you need guidance, you want to have a consultation about this, give us a call. We can walk you through the process, talk to you about how each of those components of your ISP are going to impact you getting your kids back. Please give an Oklahoma DHS attorney a call and we can help you with your legal matters.
